On September 5, 2024, a three-member team from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), led by Acting Director of Humanitarian Affairs Mr. Patrick Robins, visited the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assess its preparedness and resource coordination for the 2024 flood response. The team was welcomed by Dr. Onimode Abdullahi Bandele, representing NEMA Director General Mrs. Zubaida Umar, along with other key NEMA officials.

Dr. Bandele expressed gratitude to USAID for its ongoing support in disaster management, including training, capacity building, and financial assistance. Mr. Robins emphasized the visit’s goal of exploring collaboration opportunities for the 2024 flood response, focusing on identifying needs and gaps in support for affected communities. He also mentioned USAID’s planned partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to aid local communities impacted by the flood. The USAID team was later shown the NEOC office operations via the 2024 flood Dashboard.
