
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Minna Operations Office, in collaboration with the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) and other stakeholders, has distributed relief materials to victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa and surrounding villages within Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency of Niger State.
The exercise, held on 16th August 2025, was led by Assistant Chief Search and Rescue Officer, Mr. Shamsudeen A. Haliru, who represented the Head of Operations, Mr. Hussaini Isah.
Beneficiaries and community leaders warmly received the intervention. Speaking during the exercise, the representative of Hon. Joshua Audu Gana, Member representing Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Jacob Saba, and the representative of the Ndalile of Mokwa, Alh. Mohammed A. Ahmed expressed gratitude to NEMA for the prompt response and timely support to the affected persons.
Items distributed to the affected households included:
Rice, Maize, Seasoning cubes, Vegetable oil, Tomato paste and Iodized salt The distribution was conducted across all three affected Local Government Areas—Mokwa, Lavun, and Edati—with active participation from NSEMA, Local Government officials, community leaders, and other partners to ensure fairness and transparency.
This intervention was aimed at alleviating immediate hardship, restoring hope, and reinforcing NEMA’s commitment to timely disaster response and humanitarian assistance. The distribution exercise was conducted successfully and peacefully.
