Following the report of Flood and rainstorm disasters that wreak 13 communities in Ikire , Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, NEMA South West Zonal Office in collaboration with Osun SEMA conducted an assessment to ascertain the extent of damage. The disaster was reported to occur as a result of a heavy rainfall which was accompanied by heavy wind.. During the assessment, it was observed that about 1200 persons had been affected within the 13 communities while many households have been rendered homeless and requires immediately assistance. Other public infrastructures were also damaged by the disaster. The leader of the team Assistant Zonal Coordinator SWZ, Mr Olanrewaju Kazeem, commiserated with the community and urged them to embrace Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies to mitigate against disaster.
The victims appreciated the NEMA Team and requested for assistance of the government to cushion the effect of disaster.
