NEMA/ADSEMA JOINT ASSESSMENT TEAM VISITS FLOOD AFFECTED COMMUNITIES IN FUFORE LGA

A joint assessment team from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) has conducted a rapid assessment of communities recently affected by flooding in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The team was received by the Chairperson of Fufore LGA, Hon. Peace Samson Audu. While briefing her on the purpose of the visit, NEMA’s Head of Operations, Mr. Ladan Ayuba conveyed the sympathy of the Director General, NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, to the victims. He explained that the team was on the ground to carry out a rapid assessment to ascertain the extent of damage and needs of the affected population.

Preliminary findings from the assessment indicate that 14 communities were impacted, affecting over 578 households and submerging approximately 350 hectares of farmland.

The Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, ADSEMA, Mr. Maxwell Johnson also sympathized with the affected communities on behalf of the State Government. He advised residents in flood prone areas to take precautionary measures, including relocating to higher ground, to avoid further losses.
