United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) launched the 2025 Nigeria Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) in Abuja, with key stakeholders including the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar in attendance.

In her remarks, the DG NEMA Mrs. Zubaida Umar underscored significance of the initiative to contribute towards addressing the humanitarian challenges faced by vulnerable communities in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States. She reiterated NEMA’s commitment to collaborate with OCHA and other partners to support vulnerable individuals and foster resilience within communities.

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda to address the needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and empower them towards economic independence.

Mr. Mohammed Malick Fall, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, expressed gratitude to donor agencies and partners for their support in delivering aid to vulnerable populations in the North East.

Mr. Trond Jensen, the Head of OCHA Nigeria, provided details on the projections outlined in the HNRP for the year.
