NEMA South South Zone led by the Zonal Coordinator Godwin Tepikor joins Betway Nigeria Ltd in the handing over of relief materials donated by the corporate body to persons affected by 2022 flood disaster in Bayelsa State.
The Zonal Coordinator who represented the Director General of the Agency thanked the Management of the company for responding to the call of Mr. President for well- meaning individuals and response agencies to come to the aid of flood victims in the country. The Zonal Coordinator stated that government alone cannot cater to the needs of vulnerable persons in the society and therefore thanked Betway for the gesture, stressing that the donation will complement the effort of NEMA in meeting the needs of flood impacted persons in Bayelsa State. He used the occasion to call on other Stakeholders to emulate Betway Nigeria Ltd.
The company was represented by the Chief Operating Officer Otunba Kunle Olamuyiwa and the Marketing Manager Mr. Adedotun Adepegba.
The Chairman of BYSEMA Hon Igrubia Walaman Sam received the items on behalf of the Bayelsa State Government.
Otunba Olamuyiwa said that the gesture was part of the Social Corporate Responsibility (CSR) of his company to give a little back to the society to assist the very vulnerable group who are in dire need of assistance as a result of the flood. On his part, the representative of the Bayelsa Government Hon. Sam thanked Betway Nigeria Ltd for remembering the state in their time of need, and promised that the items would be distributed to the persons for whom they were donated. He joined to call on well-meaning Nigerians and other corporate organizations to come to the aid of the state.
Items donated were: 60 bags (10kg) rice; 65 bags (10kg) beans; 60 bags (1kg) Garri; 50 kegs of Vegetable oil (75CL); 60 cartons of noodles; 200 cartons of spaghetti; 1,000 cartons of tomato paste; 1,000 packs of salt; 200 packs of maggi;
Toiletries were: 200 bottles of savlon (disinfectant); 100 packs of tooth paste; 500 packs of sanitary towels/ pads;432 packs of bathing soap; 100 packs of washing soap and 300 pieces of mosquito nets.
