STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON THE EMERGENCY DISTRIBUTION & TRANSPORTATION OF FOOD ITEMS FROM THE NATIONAL STRATEGIC RESERVE THROUGH NEMA

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South South Zone (Port Harcourt and Uyo) held a stakeholders meeting with the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CRSEMA) and other relevant stakeholders. The NEMA team was led by Mr Rasaq Adebiyi from the Port Harcourt Zonal Office with the Ag. Head, Uyo Operations Office Aisueni Mmandu and other staff in attendance.The meeting agenda included committee preparedness and set up, safe warehousing of the items, logistics, security as well as community engagement. The key thrust of the meeting was the setting up of committees in the 18 Local Government Areas as well as to discuss modalities on handling receipts and distribution of palliatives from the Federal Government to the state. Key stakeholders such as DG CRSEMA’s Rev.Hon.James I. Anam, Cross River State Commissioner for Agriculture Mr. Johnson Ebokpo, Commissioner Women Affairs, Hon. Edema Irom, Commissioner of Welfare & Social Responsibility, Bishop Dr Margaret Enetta. DSS, Redcross, NSCDC, CAN, FBOs, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders participated in the meeting. Various contributions, suggestions and recommendations were made to ensure that due process is followed in the distribution of the grains approved by the Federal Government to the various Local Government Areas in Cross River state.
