On March 18, 2025, the NEMA Kano Office played a crucial role in receiving 180 vulnerable Nigerians returning from Niamey, Niger Republic. This repatriation exercise, facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), ensured that the returnees received essential humanitarian support through the coordinated efforts of multiple stakeholders.
The group comprised 122 male adults, 18 male children, and 3 male infants, along with 28 female adults, 5 female children, and 4 female infants. Upon arrival, they were transported to the Nigerian Immigration Training School in the late hours of March 18, where profiling and documentation were conducted the following day, March 19.
Some returnees reported cases of malaria and other minor health concerns, which were promptly attended to by medical personnel from the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS).
