NEMA has been requested to help coordinate a simulation exercise on ditching on the high sea by the OAS Helicopters Services about 15 nautical miles from the shore.
The exercise is a requirement for the clients’ continual approval to carry out service in accordance with international Best Practices.
In view of the above, the Lagos Territorial office of the Agency convened an inaugural meeting of critical stakeholders related to Maritime SAR operations such as the Navy with Special Boat Service (SBS), AIR Wing Service (AWS) and Fleet Unit, NIMASA, NAMA, NAF and Nigeria Police Disaster Management Unit.
The Inaugural meeting was meant for the Helicopter Company to meet the lead Agencies at the table where targets are spelt out and requirements from the agencies are presented.
AOS in their letter requesting the assistance of the Agency acknowledged the efforts in efficient disaster management by the Agency and the critical role the Agency plays in real incident scenarios thus the need to start working toward making preparedness and response
