NEMA North West Zone organizes a one-day Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on Preparedness, Prevention, Mitigation and Response to Fire Disasters

The gathering was held at the agency conference room and was chaired by the Zonal Coordinator, Abbani Imam Garki with a welcome address appreciating the synergy among stakeholders together during the rainy season having the hope such will be replicate during the anticipated harmattan season which is associated with fire incidence with the need all hands should be on deck to work in unity and in swift response to fire incidence in order to save life’s and properties.

He spoke on the need to shelve past approach on staging a simulation exercise on fire mitigation to sensitize and enlighten Traders in the Market, vulnerable communities using the traditional leaders and the youths on the need of preventing fire outbreak.

He lamented and condemned on the way stakeholders safety is at stake most especially issue on hoodlums attacking personnel of the Fire Service at any time of fire response, saying henceforth that attitude should stop.

The ES KADSEMA represented by Mallam Mubarak a senior officer spoke about fire safety inspection, training of staff of various agencies on fire prevention and forensic fire investigation which could give a positive results of knowing the cause of a particular fire outbreak, rather than basing on assumption and uncertainty.

He also said that KADSEMA has commenced assessment of all MDA’S in Kaduna State on Fire Alerm., and Fire Extinguishers.

On his part, the Sarkin Ruwan Zazzau Halamin Tudun Wada, Alhaji Tahir Mahmud commended NEMA towards its quest to ensure prompt response to disasters and promised elders at communities will always provide every necessary support towards achieving the desired goals.
