NEMA HANDS OVER RELIEF MATERIALS FOR FLOOD AFFECTED PERSONS IN RIVERS STATE


NEMA South South today handed over relief materials for 2022 flood affected persons in Rivers State.
The exercise was carried out by Dr. B.A. Onimode on behalf of the Director General of the agency.
The items were received by Dr. George Nweke, Chairman,  Rivers State Task Force on 2022 Flood on behalf of the Governor, HE Nyesom Eze wo Wike. With Dr. Wike were the Commissioner for Special Duties Hon. Chukwuemeka Onowu and the DA Ministry of Special Duties Mrs Fortune Akpela.
At the handing over ceremony were the Nigerian Red Cross, Other Stakeholders and the Press. At the handing over ceremony Dr. Onimode conveyed the sympathy and condolences of the DG to the Government and people of Rivers State who have been impacted by the flood, and that the items were provided to cushion the impact of the flood on the affected persons. On his part, Dr. Nweke thanked NEMA and the federal government for the items for the donation and promised that they will ensure that they will get to the affected persons in the State.
Items donated were food and nonfood as follows:

(10kg) bags of rice;  (10kg) maize;  (10kg) garri;  vegetable oil; seasoning;  tin tomato; salt;
The nonfood items include of nylon mats;
cartons of bath soap; guinea brocade; women’s wear; children’s wear and men’s wear.
