
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has responded to the devastating rain and windstorm that struck parts of Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State on Saturday, 13th September 2025.
Following a distress call from the Edo State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), NEMA swiftly deployed a team that joined SEMA officials in conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas.
The joint team reported that the storm severely impacted communities including Uhonmora, Okpuje, Ukhuesesoke, Ehor, and Ukhuese-Osi, where several houses were deroofed, others collapsed completely, and at least 369 households were directly affected.
During the assessment, affected residents appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance to help cushion the impact of the disaster. NEMA noted the urgent need for relief materials, temporary shelter, and other forms of support to restore normalcy to the communities.
The Agency assured that a detailed report will be forwarded to management for prompt intervention, reaffirming its commitment to providing timely humanitarian assistance to disaster-hit populations across the country.
