
NEMA delivered 1,005 metric tons of assorted grains to Benue State under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The grains, part of a larger 42,000 metric ton allocation from the National Strategic Reserve, are to be distributed to LGAs, religious organizations, and boarding schools.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, represented by Dr. Emmanuel Chenge, principal private secretary to the executive Governor praised President Tinubu for his support, emphasizing the state’s efforts to improve food security. SEMA Executive Secretary James Iorpuu assured fair distribution of the grains, highlighting NEMA’s commitment to the community’s resilience. Beneficiary representative Tersoo Ahule expressed gratitude for the assistance.
Director-General NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar represented by the North Central Zonal Director, Mr. Bashir Garga, said the grains were part of the 42,000 metric tons of assorted food commodities from the National Strategic Reserve under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMoA&FS) to reduce the impact of the current economic down-turn in the country.Benue State was allocated 897 MT of Maize ( 17,940 bags of 50kg) and 108MT of Garri (4,324 bags of 25kg) with excess of 30 bags of garri which will be distributed accordingly to each LGA, religious organizations and boarding schools in the LGAs.
