The National Emergency Management Management North Central Zone in collaboration with NEMA EMVs embarked on a sensitization walk to celebrate this year’s International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction in Jos, Plateau State, a yearly event usually marked every 13th October with the theme: Early warning for Early action for all (Target G).
Declaring the event open, the North Central Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Eugene Nyelong urged the participants to imbibe the culture of disaster risk reduction in order to make Nigeria a disaster resilient nation.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of Disaster Risk Reduction club at Baptists High School Bukuru as well as presentation of a First Aid box to the club and flag-off of tree planting campaign to serve as wind brakers within the Jos South Local Government Secretariat.
Participants at the event includes the representative of the Local government Chairman Jos South, the Federal Road Safety Corp, Resident Doctors from the Jos University Teaching Hospital, SEMA, NEMA Emergency Management Vanguards and the staff,pupils and students of the school.
