Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State and Director General National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mustapha Habib Ahmed today flagged off distribution of relief items donated by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) for 16,000 households of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by insurgency in Borno State.
The flag off ceremony was held at El-Miskin IDPs camp, where Governor Zulum appreciated KSRelief for the relief donation and NEMA for facilitating the distribution.
In his remarks, DG NEMA recalled that KSRelief had preciously partnered NEMA in distribution of similar supports to IDPs in Borno, Yobe and Zamfara States. Under the present donation, he said it household would get a 59.8kg food basket comprising of rice, beans, masa vita flour, tomato paste, vegetable oil, salt and seasoning.
Also speaking, representative of KSRelief Al-Yousef Abdulkarim Abdul-Mohsen said the gesture was part of international humanitarian supports from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to assist persons affected by insurgency in Nigeria.
Also at the occasion, the DG NEMA officially presented to Governor Zulum relief items donated by the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation (PCFRR) for distribution to persons affected by flood in Borno State this year. The Secretary of the PCFRR was represented by Alh Umar Gulani.
Governor Zulum and DG NEMA later inspected the KSRelief items and PCFRR donation at NEMA warehouse.
