The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Uyo Operations Office, on Monday 11th August, 2025 carried out the handing over and official flag-off of relief materials to communities affected by a devastating windstorm in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State. The exercise took place on August 8, 2025, at Ikot Udo Obobo village in Ukanafun Local Government Area.
The Head of Operations, NEMA Uyo, Mr. Mmandu Aisueni, represented by Assistant Chief Accountant, Mr. Awoji Augustine, conveyed the Director General’s heartfelt sympathy to the affected persons. He stated that the relief items were provided by the Federal Government to bring succour to those who suffered significant losses to their properties and livelihoods as a result of the disaster.
The Honorable Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, represented by his Chief Protocol, Mr. Nsennam George, expressed profound gratitude to NEMA and the Federal Government for their swift intervention. He commended the agency’s consistent support to disaster victims in Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Grace Udosen, Rev. Nsebing Ekarika, and Mrs. Nko Friday Etim, appreciated the Director General of NEMA and the Federal Government for their timely and much-needed assistance.
The distribution was witnessed by Local Government officials, community leaders, security personnel, and members of the media.
