Director General NEMA, Governor of Borno State, inspect camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by flooding in Maiduguri.

Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, and the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zullum, inspected camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by flooding in Maiduguri. The Governor praised NEMA for its prompt response in evacuating trapped individuals and providing relief to those in the camps.

They were accompanied by Senate Chief Whip, Sen. Mohammed Monguno, and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties, Sen. Kaka Shehu. During their visit to the Bakassi camp, they observed NEMA’s mobile clinic and relief efforts. Governor Zullum commended NEMA’s efforts and called for increased funding to support its operations.

The Director General briefed the Governor on the materials and facilities NEMA has deployed to aid the IDPs, including mobile intensive care unit ambulances, a mobile water treatment plant, and additional search and rescue teams from various locations. Sen. Kaka Shehu also advocated for better funding for NEMA to enhance its capacity to manage disasters effectively.

Earlier, the DG of NEMA paid a courtesy call on the Governor to express sympathy for those affected by the flood and supervised ongoing rescue operations.
