PLATEAU STATE TASK FORCE COMPRISING OF NEMA AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS BEGIN THE PROCESS OF IDPs RESETTLEMENT IN SOME COMMUNITIES.

Following the inauguration of the Task Force for the Resettlement of IDPs in Plateau State, the Chairman, Air Commodore Chuwang Pam (Rtd) led members of the team to some affected communities for on-the-spot assessment which began on the 9th of April and continued today the 10th of April, 2024.

The NEMA-North Central Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Eugene Nyelong alongside other staff were present in Mangu Local Government to assess the level of damage for the assessment and to provide expertise where necessary to aid the committee achieve its set goals. The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) comprises persons affected by recent communal crises in some communities in the Local Government Area.

Recall that the committee was inaugurated on the 25th of March, 2024 to facilitate the safe return of IDPs to their ancestral homes by the Gov., Bar. Caleb Mutfwang.

The committee therefore has taken the first step of identifying the affected communities to establish the necessary requirement that will help in resettling the affected persons back to their various communities.
