The newly posted Commander of the 551 Air Station Nigerian Air Force Commodore EK Gapwekt was on a courtesy visit to the North Central zonal office in Jos.
The purpose of the visit according to the Commander was to familiarise himself with the zonal office and other security architecture of the State. He added further that the Station was ready to give NEMA any assistance it might require during Emergencies. The Commander commended NEMA for the role it plays in coordinating disaster management in Nigeria.
In his remarks, the North Central zonal Coordinator mr Eugene Nyelong appreciated the Commander for his visit and thanked the Nigeria Air Force on behalf of the Director General of the Agency Mustapha Habib Ahmef for assistance the Agency got from it during the 2022 flood that ravaged many states in the country. The Coordinator assured the Commander of the agency’s readiness for continued collaboration with the Nigeria Air Force.
Highlights of the visit were the presentation of plague by the Zonal Coordinator to the Commander and also the presentation of the Nigeria Air Force instructional materials and 2023 almanac to the Zonal Coordinator.
The visit was rounded off by the demonstrations of use of extrication equipments by the Search and Rescue Department of the Agency.
