ASSESSMENT OF FLOOD DISASTER IN IFO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF OGUN STATE

NEMA South West Zonal Office received a distress alert from Ogun State Emergency Management Agency ( OGSEMA) in respect of flood disaster that wreaked

havoc in ten (10) Communities in Ifo LGA of Ogun State.

The Joint assessment Team carried out an on the spot assessment of the affected areas on Tuesday 2nd of July 2024.

The Team was received on arrival by the Councilor of Ward M (Hon) Wasiu Amoo. He conveyed the team to the affected Communities. It was observed that the flood incident was as a result of heavy downpour which led to the overflow of river bank leading to the flood. The Zonal Coordinator NEMA SWZO Mr Olanrewaju Kadiri sympathized with the affected persons. He also urged the residents to desist from activities that can cause flood disaster such as dumping refuse on water ways. The disaster affected properties, residential buildings, kiosk, Shops e.t.c The affected persons appeal to the Federal Government for assistance to cushion the negative effect of the disaster.Fortunately no life was lost in the incident.
