The World Bank team from its Emergency Preparedness and Response (EP&R) unit today visited NEMA headquarters, Abuja.
The team’s visit was part of a project being carried out as Lessons Learned Exercise (LLE) in all states affected by the 2022 Flood Disaster in Nigeria.
The Director General NEMA Mustapha Habib Ahmed was represented by the Director Planning Research and Forecasting Dr Onimode Bandele Abdullahi in receiving the World Bank’s team. He appreciated them for the visit and highlighted the mandates and activities of the Agency. NEMA’s 2022 flood preparedness, mitigation plans and response activities were also presented in a powerpoint by Assistant Director PRF (Head of M&E) Mr Tony Ephraim.
The World Bank team was led by the Lead Disaster Risk Management Specialist Mr Michel Matera and comprised of Special Advisor Mr Oscar Ishizawa, Snr Disaster Risk Management Specialist Mr Nkem Joseph-Palmer and Consultant Alh Alhassan Nuhu. The team also made a presentation on details of the LLE and other important aspects of the EPR project.
Subsequently, there was robust general discussion on the subject matter by both the NEMA and World bank team.
Members of NEMA’s management team present at the occasion include the Director Finance and Accounts, Legal Advisor and representatives of all the departments.
