The recent visit to Tiga Dam by a delegation comprising UNICEF, NEMA Kano Territorial Office, and SEMAs from Kano and Jigawa states was pivotal in preparing for a joint simulation exercise. The team received a warm welcome from officials of the River Basin Development Authority and were guided through the dam’s operations and facilities by the project manager. Of particular concern was a crack detected on the dam’s embankment, flagged as a potential threat by a river basin engineer. This highlights the importance of conducting simulation exercises and raising public awareness to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
