The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Thursday, 18th September 2025, participated in the 8th edition of the Road Safety Emergency Response Stakeholders (ROSERS) Forum. The programme, co-hosted by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Lifeline Care Association, had as its theme: “An Appraisal of Nigeria’s Emergency Response Plan.”

The Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, was represented at the event by Mrs. Chinwe Opara, Assistant Director, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), who delivered the keynote address on “Overview of Nigeria’s National Emergency Response Plan (NERP).”

In her remarks, Mrs. Opara described the NERP as more than just a policy document, stressing that it is “a life-saving framework, a blueprint for action, and a strategic guide that clearly defines the roles, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms among stakeholders at all levels.” She emphasized that the real strength of the plan lies in the collective will of institutions and stakeholders to implement it effectively.

She further reiterated that strong collaboration and synergy among agencies remain the bedrock of an efficient and sustainable emergency management system. On behalf of the DG, Mrs. Opara reaffirmed NEMA’s unwavering commitment to collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement in strengthening Nigeria’s emergency management architecture.

The ROSERS Forum provided an important platform for stakeholders to review progress, identify gaps, and chart new strategies to enhance coordinated emergency response across the country.

Institutions and organisations present at the forum included the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigerian Red Cross Society, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Federal Ministry of Transportation, medical institutions, and Lifeline Care Association, among others.
