NEMA PRESENTS RELIEF ITEMS TO PERSONS AFFECTED BY DISASTERS IN NIGER STATE.

The DG, NEMA yesterday presented Relief items to persons affected by Natural and Human induced Disasters in Niger State.
Making the presentation in the Government House in Minna, Director, Special Duties, Dr. Onimode Abdullahi Bandele who represented the DG said NEMA cannot compensate the assets lost in the Disasters however the items is an effort to provide some relief to the affected persons. He called on the State Government to set up Emergency Management Committees or Vanguards across communities in order to enhance Disaster prevention, preparedness and response by localizing it to the grassroot.
The Director also thanked the State Government for the provision of office accomodation to the Agency in Niger State.
The Niger State Deputy Governor, Alh. Ahmed Mohammed Ketso who also represented the Governor received the items on behalf of the State. He thanked NEMA for it’s consistency in responding promptly to the plight of people in distress.
Other functionaries present at the presentation of the relief items were, the Secretary to Niger State Government, Alh. Ahmed Mantane, the DG, Niger State Emergency Management Agency as well as other top State farm office holders.
Thereafter, the Director, Special Duties led them to the warehouse where the items were parked to see and confirm the relief items.
