
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), held a one-day Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on the National Disaster Preparedness and Response Campaign (NPRC) 2025 at the Tourist Camp Conference Hall in Kano. Chaired by the Executive Secretary of Kano SEMA, the event brought together representatives from government ministries, security and disaster response agencies, NGOs, media, traditional rulers, and community groups.Presentations by NiMet and NEMA focused on the 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction and the Annual Flood Outlook by NIHSA, aiming to strengthen local awareness of early warning systems and align preparedness strategies with the national framework.As part of the campaign’s community engagement, NEMA and SEMA, with partners and volunteers, conducted an outreach in Doka community, Tofa LGA, to educate residents on flood risks, evacuation planning, and local response. A similar sensitization session was held at Government Secondary School, Rijiyar Zaki, where students and staff were informed about disaster risk reduction and the role of youth in resilience building.The outreach received support from the Chairman of Tofa LGA and the District Head, who urged residents to take early warnings seriously. Community members were encouraged to stay informed and involved in emergency response efforts. Educational materials were distributed, and a First Aid Box was presented to the community to enhance local emergency preparedness.
