



The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (JISEMA), convened a one-day Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on the National Disaster Preparedness and Response Campaign (NPRC) 2025 at the Jigawa State Secretariat Conference Hall, Dutse.Chaired by Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi, representing the Director General of NEMA, and the Executive Secretary of JISEMA, the meeting gathered key stakeholders including local government representatives, government ministries and agencies, security and emergency services, NGOs, the Nigerian Red Cross, media personnel, and community leaders.Discussions centered on the 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction by NiMet and the Annual Flood Outlook by NIHSA. The aim was to synchronize state and local disaster preparedness actions with national early warning systems for an effective response to climate-related emergencies.Following the meeting, a community sensitization outreach was held in Kiyawa Town, Kiyawa Local Government Area. This outreach, conducted by NEMA, JISEMA, the Nigerian Red Cross, Fire Service, FRSC, and Emergency Volunteers, educated residents on the 2025 flood forecast, evacuation procedures, first aid for drowning, and community preparedness strategies.Residents were encouraged to monitor flood alerts through credible media and were given fliers and a first aid kit for emergency readiness. The team emphasized the need to keep drainage channels clean, avoid dumping waste in waterways, and identify safe high-ground areas for refuge during flooding.NEMA reiterated its commitment to grassroots disaster risk reduction through early warning dissemination, inter-agency cooperation, and community capacity building—core components of the NPRC 2025 agenda.
