In line with the predictions issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) on the likelihood of flooding in Lagos State, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Lagos Operations Office has taken proactive steps to strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
A team of NEMA officers led by Assistant Director Search and Rescue Mrs Adenike Ibitoye, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of NNS Beecroft, a key naval formation responsible for maritime security and disaster response in the South West region.
The visit aimed to enhance synergy, resource sharing, and communication between the two agencies in order to mitigate the impact of potential flooding and ensure a more coordinated and effective emergency response.
During the meeting, the NEMA team also briefed the Commander on the upcoming simulation exercises being organized by the Nigerian Red Cross in collaboration with other emergency response stakeholders. The discussions reaffirmed the importance of joint preparedness efforts and mutual support in safeguarding lives and property during emergencies.
