POST DISASTER ASSESSMENT OF FLOOD DISASTER IN UYO LGA, AKWA IBOM STATE

The Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi led a team of professionals in the state including NEMA, AKSEMA, Commissioners of the relevant state ministries, Uyo LGA chairman, Engineers, Contractor (Bulletin), other officials and the media on an inspection of the different areas/ communities affected by the devastating flood that ravaged the state capital in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 2nd, 2024.

The aim of the post disaster assessment/inspection was to assess the situation on ground and have first hand information on how infrastructural rehabilitation of the affected areas and desilting of the drainages and drainage channels can be carried out to prevent future reoccurrence as well as find lasting solutions to the menace.

The Deputy Governor/State Government while thanking the Federal Government for its support to the state, called on NEMA to assist the state while they play their role in expeditiously combating the situation on ground and protect the lives and properties of her citizens.
