NEMA Ekiti Operations Office organized a training for members of the NYSC EMVs in Ado Ekiti, on 12th March 2024.
This was aimed at making use of the corps members as Agent of Disaster Risk Reduction by regularly organizing Sensitization and Awareness Campaigns within their jurisdiction and provide basic First Aid to victims of Emergencies around them.
Mr David Okorie presented a paper on the Overview of Disaster Management and the roles of EMVs.
He stressed that in order to mitigate the adverse effect of Disasters it is important to put in mechanisms of Early warning system. He therefore noted that Sensitization and Awareness is key to preventing Disasters from occuring and mitigate the adverse effects of Disasters if they eventually occur.
He charged the EMVs to regularly embark on Sensitizations and Awareness Campaigns to enlighten the people about measures to avert Disasters.
Mr Abogunrin Adesina took the practical demonstration of Basic First Aid. The corps members were exposed to best practices to Manage various incidences.
