On October 14, 2024, the National Emergency Management Agency Kano Territorial Office (NEMA KTO) celebrated the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction by conducting a training session for the NEMA/NYSC Emergency Management Vanguard (EMV) in Jigawa State. The training, under the theme “Disaster Risk Management in Protecting and Empowering Youth for a Disaster-Free Future,” focused on enhancing the EMV’s preparedness and response capabilities.
The training aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills to respond to emergencies effectively and to reduce the impact of disasters. The program covered key areas such as disaster mitigation strategies, the use of early warning systems, emergency planning, and increasing public awareness to help communities prepare for and respond to disasters efficiently.
