On the 27th of October, 2023, Mr. Igwe Nnamdi Chukwudi, the new Acting Head of NEMA Owerri Operations Office, paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps in Imo state. During his address, he emphasized the importance of a strong working relationship and effective communication in disaster management among stakeholders.
In response, Commandant Mr. Mathew Sunday Ovie welcomed the NEMA team, highlighting NEMA’s consistent reliability as a partner with significant responsibilities in disaster management. He stressed the need for enhanced collaboration between NSCDC and NEMA to better manage disasters in the state. Commandant Ovie emphasized the importance of raising awareness among the public about disaster preparedness and expressed interest in NEMA’s involvement in the upcoming Imo state gubernatorial elections.
