The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has a long history of training members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as Emergency Management Vanguards (EMV) on disaster management and risk reduction. On July 12, 2024, the Head of Operations, Dahiru Yusuf, welcomed the EMVs to the office for training, urging them to utilize this opportunity to engage with communities in Egor LGA and build their capacity on disaster management.
The training covered essential topics, including:
– NEMA Establishment
– Overview of Disaster Management
– Roles of EMV in Disaster Management
– Basic First Aid
The goal of the training is to equip EMVs with the necessary skills to sensitize communities on disaster risk reduction and assist NEMA in propagating its campaign on disaster risk reduction, particularly in flood-prone areas of Egor Local Government Area, Edo State.
Practical demonstrations were conducted to equip the EMVs with hands-on experience.
This training aims to empower the EMVs to make a positive impact in their communities and contribute to disaster risk reduction efforts in Egor LGA.
