SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAINING FOR DISASTER MANAGEMENT STAKEHOLDERS IN IMO STATE

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Owerri Operations Office in collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Imo State Branch and other relevant Stakeholders carried out Search and Rescue Training for Disaster Management Stakeholders in Imo State.

The 3-day training exercise was centred on rescue operations. The major highlights of the program were PowerPoint presentations, practical demonstrations on how to use search and rescue equipment and simulation exercises on fire and water rescue respectively.

The Ag. Head of Operation, Mr. Nnaji Ifeanyi, ably represented by Quintus Oramalu in his presentations: Flood Mitigation Strategies and also Search and Rescue Operations highlighted the types of search and rescue, risk identification techniques and what people need to know before, during and after flood. The Agency’s Owerri Operations also displayed search and rescue equipment and walked the stakeholders through, on how they are used in rescue operations.
