Director General National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, today joined the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, the Director General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMeT), Professor Charles Anosike and esteemed personalities to unveil the 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) in Abuja
In her remarks, the Director General NEMA Mrs. Zubaida Umar commended NiMeT for the timely release of the SCP and disclosed that NEMA would convene a meeting of experts from all relevant partners to analyze the disaster risk implications of the predictions and develop necessary advisories for downscaling to State and Local Government authorities and support sub-national level disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery planning.
She highlighted the existing partnership between NEMA and NiMeT in disaster risk management and national resilience.
The Honorable Minister, Mr. Festus Keyamo, officially unveiled the SCP and shared insights on its predictions.
The Director General of NiMeT, Professor Charles Anosike, in his speech said the rain patterns covered by the SCP, were the aspects of pre-onset, onset, cessation, rainfall amounts, temperatures, and dry spells across the country.
