NEMA RELAUNCHES DISASTER RISK REDUCTION CLUBS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA NORTH CENTRAL ZONAL OFFICE) Jos on Thursday 27th June 2024, relaunched the Disaster Risk Reduction Clubs in some Secondary Schools in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The program which has been in a state of abeyance was relaunched on Thursday in Zang Commercial Secondary School and Government Secondary School Du all in Jos Sauth Local Government Area.

The program which is an initiative of the National Emergency Management Agency is aimed at taking Disaster Risk Reduction to grassroots all over the zone..

Mr. Moses Okpe, the head of Disaster Risk Reduction in the zone said the aim of club was to build a culture of disaster management in the students at the early stage. Okpe told the students that apart from the training that agency would be giving them, a teacher from the School and an Emergency Management Vanguard (EMV) from NEMA/NYSC Community Development Service member would be attached to club to oversee it activities.

The program which is expected to.be in phases was lauched by Zonal Coordinator Mr. Eugene Nyelong and facilitated by some principal officers.The program is expected to cover all the states in the zone.

Fully equipped First Aid Boxes were presented to the clubs.
