



The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has launched the 2025 National Preparedness and Response Campaign (NPRC) in Ebonyi State to raise awareness and strengthen flood preparedness at the community level.
Representing NEMA DG Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Mr. Walson Ibarakumo Brandon flagged off the campaign, stressing proactive disaster management, early action, and inter-agency coordination in line with NIMET and NIHSA flood forecasts.
The Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency (EB-SEMA) hosted the event, which drew stakeholders from key ministries, security agencies, NGOs, religious bodies, women and youth groups. Hon. Anne Aligwe represented Governor Rt. Hon. (Buldr) Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who emphasized the need for preparedness in flood-prone LGAs like Afikpo North and Abakaliki.
As part of the campaign, NEMA visited Unagboke community for grassroots sensitization in Igbo, shared safety flyers, and held a Q&A session on disaster risk reduction. Community leaders appreciated NEMA’s efforts.
