NEMA FLAGS – OFF DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF MATERIALS DONATED BY MINISTRY OF NIGER DELTA AFFAIRS TO 2022 FLOOD AFFECTED PERSONS IN AKWA IBOM STATE


NEMA South South Zonal office today in collaboration with the AKSEMA flags-off the distribution of relief materials donated by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to persons affected by year 2022 flood disaster in Akwa Ibom State. The Director General of NEMA was represented by the Zonal Coordinator South South Godwin Tepikor who led officials of the agency to the event. The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State Senator (Dr.) Mrs Akon Eyakenyi led other officials of her office namely Permanent Secretary Dr. Mrs Grace Jim, Coordinator SEMA Dr. (Mrs) Grace Akpan, SSA on SEMA Mr. Nana Udum and other directors of her office to the ceremony. The Chairmen and deputies of the 31 LG Councils of the state were present. The Zonal Coordinator conveyed the warm felicitations of the Director General of NEMA to the Deputy Governor and congratulated her on her election and subsequent assumption of office. He also extended the sympathy of the DG and in deed the federal government to the state and all those affected by the flood. He informed the Deputy Governor that the items were donated by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA) to persons affected by 2022 flood to enhance the recovery process of the affected persons, and advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items. On her part, the Deputy Governor thanked the MNDA and NEMA for the items, and assured that the items will get to the vulnerable persons impacted by the flood in the State. The representative of the LG Chairmen Hon. Uyime Etim thanked MNDA and NEMA for the gesture and assured that the items will provide succour to the affected persons in their local government areas.
Items donated included food, non-food, building materials and livelihood items.
