Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), visited the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) headquarters to reinforce their partnership. She was welcomed with a guard of honor and met with Commandant General Dr. Ahmad Audi. Umar emphasized the visit’s aim to consult key stakeholders and enhance service delivery, referencing the Memorandum of Understanding between the agencies and the need for cooperation given Nigeria’s disaster profile.
She highlighted the predicted floods in 148 LGAs across 31 states and urged NSCDC to activate emergency response teams. Umar appreciated NSCDC’s ongoing support, especially in securing food distribution and protecting vulnerable populations during disasters. Dr. Audi affirmed NSCDC’s commitment to the partnership and requested specialized training for NSCDC staff.
