The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) commenced the distribution of food baskets donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) in Katsina State. The distribution, aimed at supporting vulnerable persons in Katsina Katsina, and Borno States, was inaugurated by the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Farouk Lawal, representing Governor Dikko Umar Radda. Katsina’s distribution follow similar exercise that were carried out in Kano, Katsina and a wet food at a camp in Maiduguri, Borno State. Expressing gratitude, the Deputy Governor thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal Government, particularly NEMA, for facilitating the assistance. He also acknowledged the continuous support from the Federal Government during times of need and extended appreciation to King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud for the generous aid to Nigeria and Katsina State.NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by the North West Zonal Director Dr. Ishaya Isah Chonoko, highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval for the distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes of food items from the National Strategic Grains Reserve to all 774 Local Government Areas. She emphasized the significance of KSrelief’s contribution in complementing the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate the impact of the global economic situation in Nigeria.Following the flag-off ceremony by the Deputy Governor, the distribution continued, benefitting 781 recipients in Katsina State. 16:04:2024
