A team of NEMA Sokoto Operation Office SEMA, IOM officers and community leaders did an on-the-spot assessment to examine the level of destruction by fire incident that affected some communities in Sokoto North & South Local Government Areas of Sokoto State recently. This also affected parts of the house of the former president of Nigeria, Alh. Shehu Shagari.
Over 500 persons are affected, while over 100 persons displaced as a result of the fire. Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed including 209 motorcycles, shops and household utensils.
Those displaced are taking refuge with friends and relatives close to them.
