An overhead bridge at New Artisan Junction by Enugu-Onithsa Express Way, Independence layout, Enugu State collapsed today Monday 25th September 2023 at about 1pm.
A truck was on the bridge when it suddenly collapsed. However, there was no casualty as the truck was empty during the collapse.
One side of the bridge was affected, however, the other side has been confirmed by FERMA.

NEMA South East Zonal office team responded swiftly to the incident. Others that responded to the incident Include: FERMA, FSRC, SEMA, Enugu State Capital Development Authority, Ministry of Transport, Nigeria Police, NSCDC and the Nigeria Army.
The Enugu State Governor Barr. Peter Mbah also came to the incident scene to access the extent of damage.
The road is the main access route for travelers going to Imo State, Abia State and Rivers state through Enugu.
The Enugu State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Gerald Otiji, has urged members of the public to make use of alternative routes.
