
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South West Zonal Directorate, has paid a familiarization and courtesy visit to the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to consolidate the existing relationship between the two agencies.
The delegation was led by the South West Zonal Director, Mr. Saheed Akiode, who emphasized NEMA’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and fostering a symbiotic partnership among critical stakeholders in disaster management. He particularly acknowledged the crucial role of the NSCDC in emergency response and called for greater synergy in tackling disaster-related challenges.
In his response, the Oyo State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Augustine Nugboyen Padonu, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Corps’ readiness to collaborate with NEMA. He underscored the need for intensified sensitization and awareness campaigns on impending disasters and hazards within the state, pledging to work closely with NEMA in addressing emergencies as they arise.
Also speaking during the visit, the Head of NEMA Operations Office, Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju, highlighted the longstanding cooperation between both agencies and commended NSCDC for its role in disaster response and community protection.
The visit further reinforced the importance of inter-agency collaboration in strengthening disaster preparedness, response, and resilience in Oyo State and beyond.
