NEMA Lagos Territorial Office responded to an incident where An Eagle Air Craft XEJE E14, 5N -BZZ on landing at the Local arm of the Airport skidded off the runway due to the heavy rainfall on 11 May, 2024 and ran into the grassy land nearby where it got stuck in mud at 1:15pm.
49 passengers and 3 crew members were on board; the passengers were 48 adults and 1 infant. No casualty was recorded. The operation which lasted into late into the night had to be suspended and continued the next day.
After much effort and the use of a crane, the Aircraft was eventually pulled out and towed away at 1:30pm.
