NEMA Uyo Operations Office in collaboration with other stakeholders on Tuesday 25th June, 2024 distributed food and non-food items to persons affected by communal crisis in Ukanafun and Oruk Anam LGAs.
The distribution exercise was flagged off by the Principal Accountant Mr. Awoji Austin. He expressed the Director General Mrs. Zubaida Umar best wishes and commiserated with the people over the loss of properties and sources of livelihood from the communal crisis. He charged the beneficiaries to learn to live in peace and accommodate one another, while advising them to be alert as Akwa Ibom State is one of the identified high flood risk prone states.In his response, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem representing the constituency appreciated the Federal Government through NEMA for the timely intervention and items provided. He also urged the people to live in peace and harmony. The distribution was conducted in collaboration with relevant stakeholders including the media. Despite the heavy downpour, the exercise recorded a good turn out of the beneficiaries. Mr. Uduak Akpariya appreciated the Federal Government and NEMA on behalf of all the other beneficiaries for the relief materials. The items distributed were

iv. Vegetable oil (5 litres)
v. Tomato puree (satchet)
vi. Seasoning cubes
vii. Blankets
viii. Mosquito Nets
