A fully loaded gas tanker exploded at Otedola Bridge, Lagos, after falling while attempting to access the expressway from Otedola Estate Road.
One person has been confirmed dead, while four others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in nearby hospitals. Fourteen vehicles were completely burnt in the explosion. In addition to the vehicles, a commercial storey building was severely damaged, and four shops were destroyed.
Emergency responders, including fire services, police, and medical teams, were on the scene to control the fire and assist victims. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and assessing the extent of damage to the surrounding infrastructure.
Residents and commuters are advised to avoid the area as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
