COMMUNITY FLOOD SENSITISATION AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT JOS SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, PLATEAU STATE.

The National Emergency management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zonal office Jos in collaboration with the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC EMVs), today 25th July 2023 carried out a flood sensation excersice in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Declaring the event open, the North Central Zonal Coordinator of NEMA Mr. Eugene Nyelong said the event was a regular excersice since NIMET released its flood prediction for 2023 in first quarter of the year 2023.

The excersice which was in two phases :
1)A road walk procession
2)A Senzitation talk to the Jos South ward head/Community leaders

Road walk/procession took place with the distribution of filers to the community members in the Local Government Area. where the Coordinator, the staff and the Emergency Management Vanguards took the procession to the Palace of ‘Da Gwom Re’ Jos South, Nga Dangyang where the Senzitation talk on flood was delivered.

‘Gwom Res’ of Jos South Local Government Area of the State appreciate the effort of the agency
to bring flood preventive measures to them based on 2023 seasonal rainfall prediction by NIMET.

In his response, he urged all the Gwom Res’ and other community leaders that were in attendance to take the message back to grassroots.
