2023 FIRE WEEK ORGANISED BY FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE IN COLLABORATION WITH NEMA AND OTHER DISASTER MANAGEMENT STAKEHOLDERS

The Federal Fire Service in collaboration with NEMA Owerri Operations Office and other disaster management stakeholders in Owerri organised a 5-day fire awareness campaign with the theme: Fire Prevention is Cheap, Fire Outbreak is Expensive.

The exercise was characterised by town hall meeting and street sensitisation exercise to educate the general public on the dangers and causes of fire disaster especially during the dry season (Harmattan period).

The zonal commander, Federal Fire Service, Zone J Command (Imo and Abia) Controller, Chukwunonso Nnaemeka welcomed the participants and encouraged everyone to carry the message of fire prevention to all the ends of the state and beyond so as to reduce the frequency of fire incidences in the zone.

Those in attendance during the exercise include NEMA, FRSC, the Nigeria Airforce, the Nigeria Army, NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force, National Union of Road Transport Worker (NURTW)
