The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Enugu Operations Office participated in a stakeholders’ coordination meeting organized by the Nigeria Red Cross Society (NRCS) Enugu Chapter. The event, held at the NRCS office, was funded by the Italian Government to support flood preparedness and response, build community resilience, and aid recovery efforts for flood-affected populations.
Representing the NEMA Head of Operations, Mrs. Ebere Ugwu commended the initiative and emphasized that flood sensitization is conducted annually by NEMA in collaboration with State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs). She encouraged multi‑agency collaboration and highlighted the review of the 2025 NiMet Seasonal Climate Prediction and Annual Flood Outlook, focusing especially on flood‑prone LGAs and communities.
The meeting brought together stakeholders from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Enugu, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and the media.
Additional activities included group discussions, information sharing, and input gathering from participants. The stakeholders were also informed about an upcoming initiative aimed at strengthening flood resilience in vulnerable communities across Enugu State.
