NEMA Assesses Impact of Fire and Windstorm Disasters in Bauchi Central Senatorial District

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Gombe Operations Office has conducted an assessment following recent fire and windstorm incidents that impacted several communities across the Bauchi Central Senatorial District of Bauchi State. The affected areas included Zadawa and Akuyam in Misau LGA, Ningi in Ningi LGA, Miya in Ganjuwa LGA, Dambam in Dambam LGA, and Katanga in Warji LGA.

The assessment confirmed that 3,421 people were affected, with 427 houses impacted. Of these, 302 suffered partial damage, while 125 were completely destroyed. Two children were also injured during the incidents.

Mr. Emmanuel Musa Ngitta, the team lead and Stock Verification Officer, expressed sympathy to the victims and reassured them that NEMA has properly recorded their situation and will communicate its findings to the relevant authorities for necessary humanitarian intervention.

NEMA remains committed to supporting communities affected by natural and human-induced disasters through prompt assessments and well-coordinated relief efforts.
