The exercise, conducted under the UNICEF-supported Shock Responsive Social Protection (SRSP) Project, was aimed at testing preparedness and response mechanisms of communities, institutions, and agencies at the federal, state, and local government levels in the event of flood emergencies.
The simulation brought together a wide range of stakeholders including NEMA, Tiga Dam Authority, NIHSA, NiMet, Federal Fire Service, JISEMA, Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA), State Ministries of Health and Education, Nigerian Police Force, NSCDC, FRSC, State Fire Service, Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs), Chairmen of Auyo, Miga, and Hadejia LGAs, vigilante groups, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community leaders.
As part of the coordination, operational points were set up including a Medical/Clinic Centre, Registration Point, Store/Warehouse, Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), and Household Tents representing displaced families.
